Playing is fun. It also reduces stress, improves brain
function, stimulates the mind and boosts creativity, improves
relationships and your connection to others, keeps you feeling
young and energetic. To play means to engage in an activity for
enjoyment and recreation.
During childhood play, kids learn about verbal communication,
body language, boundaries, cooperation and teamwork. I think some
of us stopped playing a little too soon! In adults play teaches
cooperation with others and can heal emotional wounds.
Developing a playful nature can help you handle stressful
situations with humor, break the ice with strangers, make new
friends and form new business relationships.
Playfulness is an outlook that is the cornerstone of mental
well-being. It’s part of light-hearted daydreaming for relaxation.
It’s the positive and hopeful outlook that fuels resilience, the
curiosity that catalyzes learning. It’s the energy that fuels
creative expression. The ability to play is critical not only to
being happy, but also to sustaining social relationships and being
a creative, innovative person.
